Inspiring Women - Lowri Morgan

Lowri is no average athlete, nor does she do things by halves! This lady is an inspiration to everyone and we are honoured to call her our friend!

Lowri Morgan's career has taken her many places including the bottom of the Ocean when she was doing a documentary on the Titanic, to the Arctic and Amazon jungle where she faced her toughest challenges to date! Lowri has completed 9 official marathons, 2 Ironman competitions, The Ring O’Fire (135-mile Ultra Marathon in Anglesey), and two of the toughest races in the World!

She has endured the most extreme environments anyone could imagine and overcome challenges most others would fail, but what remains is her determination to see things through.

Her achievement at the Jungle Ultra was astonishing, seeing her finish in 10th place overall (out of 150 runners, with only 50 completing the entire event). Following this, she successfully completed the 350 mile non-stop footrace at the 6633 Arctic Ultra. She became the only person to cross the finish line that year and is the 2nd female amongst a handful of athletes to have ever completed the notoriously difficult event. Her stories of the ice road chill me to this day!

But that is not where her adventure stops, after becoming a mum in 2015 Lowri joined an all-female crew to compete in the Three Peaks Yacht Race – one of the most extraordinary multi-discipline endurance events in the world! After sailing 389 nautical miles over five days, and running 73 miles (that climbed 11,000 feet) the crew became the first all-female team (consisting of 5 women) in the history of the Three Peaks Yacht Race to take the honours.

After reading her book (and I thoroughly recommend you do) I was left with the urge to give myself a kick and start back running, which I did! Most of all, it just made me feel in awe of her mental strength and ability to push boundaries despite the gruelling conditions she faced.
